Well the pidgeons in Holland are that big that one would fill five family pies! So many Birds, especially the white swans, that dot the vibrant green paddocks, as though they are being farmed. There are sea gulls, geese, ducks, cormorants, stalks and even the occasional flamingo! And even after all of that there is room for the dairy cows, but just not as many now as before. Yesterday we visited SandraJohn's,used to be neighbours, that are dairy farmers and well renowned cheese makers. They generously showed the Ozzies the new upgraded equipment and the contented dairy cows, but bestest of all we got to taste their amazing cheese.
Saturday lunch, while laughter filled the house, John disappeared and brought back many delectable delights from the fish shop owned by one for their old neighbours. Smoked eel, raw herring with fresh onion, shrimp so small that I wouldn't even think about peeling them, but thank goodness there are some wonderful people out there that have it down to a fine art. Put these on fresh rolls with a mayonnaise and wow! Everything tastes amazing. The Dutchies then took the Ozzie's to a typical pub, a snooker hall and another friend who is Turkish and has been in the business of making great food for 32 years.
On Sunday we caught up with family and we had wonderful homemade soup, walked along a dike past a windmill and enjoyed sunshine and blue skies. A beautiful day visiting good people and lots of laughter.
Yesterday, Monday we travelled quite some distances and it's amazing how neat and clean everywhere is, and the size of the infrastructures and the flower businesses. Hot Houses everywhere. Another amazing meal with friends and home for another good night's sleep.
I know those seats on our flight home will be even smaller!
